Ladies
Clevedon Golf Club has a thriving, friendly Ladies Section of over 90 members. Wednesday is designated Ladies’ Day with tee times booked in the morning, afternoon and at 4pm to cater for all our members’ requirements. The Ladies’ Committee work extremely hard to ensure the smooth and successful running of the golfing diary.
Competitions in different formats are held each week and the Ladies are also encouraged to play in the main Club competitions held monthly at weekends in the summer or fortnightly during the winter.
Our lower handicap ladies play for the ‘A’ and ‘B’ teams in the Bristol and District Lady Golfers Alliance, with the more relaxed playing in Friendly matches against other clubs.
Members of the Ladies Section are automatically members of the Somerset Ladies’ County Golf Association or where applicable the Somerset County Senior Ladies’ Golf Association.
This year we have a weekend away at Woodbury Park in April and an away day at Stover in June. We are also delighted to welcome our guest speaker, Dr. Kitrina Douglas to our Spring Dinner in March where she will assist us with the psychology and performance aspects of our game. The Club Captain, Charles Griffiths also runs a social programme where all members are welcome. Charles and I have organised a mixed weekend away at Trevose in October which should be great fun.
Past Captain Rosemary Fife will be running our ‘Ladybirds Are Go’ meetings where we invite beginners, new members, those without handicaps and working ladies to a series of structured practice sessions. Our professional Robert Scanlan will be on hand to provide lessons and members of the Ladies Section will assist with practice, rules, etiquette and general play.
